Privacy Policy

Lost-a-Boo! helps families at South Yarra Primary School find lost property. It is a small, non-commercial project made by a student and his parent. This policy explains what the app stores and why.
What we collect
- Photos of lost items, taken by the Junior School Council (JSC). Photos show things only — never people or faces.
- Item details: the kind of item (for example, jumper or water bottle), where it was found, and the date.
- Claims: when a family taps “That’s mine!”, they enter a child’s first name and class (for example, “Ava, 3B”) so the office knows who to give the item to.
We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, locations, contacts or payment details. There are no user accounts. The app has no advertising, analytics or tracking.
How you sign in
You enter a school code to open the app. Your device then keeps a sign-in token so you don’t have to type the code again. The token does not identify you personally.
Who can see it
Only people with the school code can see item photos and claims. We do not share or sell any information.
How long we keep it
- When an item is handed back, its photo and the child’s name are deleted straight away. We only keep a count of items returned.
- Items nobody claims are removed by the JSC, usually at the end of each term.
Where it is stored
Data is stored securely with Cloudflare, our hosting provider, and may be held on servers outside Australia.
Children
The app is for parents, carers and school staff. Children only appear as a first name and class on a claim, entered by their family. If you want a claim or photo removed, ask the school office or contact us below and we will delete it.
